PCB Temperature Calculator

This PCB thermal analysis calculator is used to estimate the junction temperature rise of an exposed pad device attached to a printed circuit board (PCB). The calculator computes the total junction to ambient PCB thermal resistance due to the conduction, convection and radiation.

Thermal analysis of the PCB is conducted by computing the equivalent thermal conductivity of the PCB based on the copper coverage area, number and thickness of the PCB layers, size of the attached device and strength of convection and radiation from the surface of the PCB. Reference the blog article, How to calculate the thermal resistance of a PCB for details regarding the calculation methodology.

Needed to design a heatsink?

The HeatSinkCalculator offers online heat sink analysis software that allows you to analyze plate fins heat sinks cooled via radiation, and natural or forced convection. Multiple heat sources attached to the heat sink can be evaluated. In addition the calculator automatically determines the optimal dimensions of your heat sink to achieve the lowest heat source temperature. Click below to learn more.
